Former Saxon State Minister and Member of the Saxon State Parliament Dr. Thomas Schmidt, accompanied by Hartmannsdorf Mayor Uwe Weinert, visited aconnic AG to learn more about the company’s contribution to Saxony as a business location and its role in strengthening Europe’s technological sovereignty. On May 29, 2026, the Saxon daily newspaper Freie Presse published an extensive report on the visit under the headline “Order Books Full at Network Technology Company.”
On May 19, 2026, former Saxon State Minister and long-serving Member of the Saxon State Parliament Dr. Thomas Schmidt visited aconnic’s facility in Hartmannsdorf near Chemnitz. He was accompanied by Hartmannsdorf’s long-serving mayor, Uwe Weinert. During their visit, the two politicians received an overview of aconnic’s market position and competitive environment. Following a company presentation, CEO Werner Neubauer and Executive Board member Markus Königshofer guided the visitors through the company’s production facility in Saxony.
“The order books are full,” wrote journalist Jonas Patzwaldt in the May 29, 2026 edition of Freie Presse in his report on the visit to aconnic’s Hartmannsdorf facility. “After two challenging years, the company has once again achieved a record level of incoming orders. Since January 2026, it has received orders worth €27 million, including a €10 million contract from Italy.”
Major contracts worth tens of millions of euros from Italy and Mexico underscore both the quality of aconnic’s solutions and the company’s importance to Saxony as a technology hub. According to CEO Werner Neubauer, if the current level of incoming orders continues, further investments will be made at the Hartmannsdorf site. He also emphasized that, as an independent international supplier of networking equipment, aconnic plays an important role in strengthening Europe’s technological sovereignty by reducing dependence on Chinese and U.S. network equipment vendors.
Despite its strong order backlog, aconnic is currently facing a financing gap. The procurement of materials – particularly semiconductors – must be financed well in advance, while customers typically pay only after products have been completed. According to Freie Presse, Neubauer explained that attracting investors in Germany remains difficult, as investment capital is currently focused primarily on artificial intelligence and data center projects.
The objective of the visit was to further strengthen cooperation between the company and the Saxon state government. A central question discussed during the meeting was how the Free State of Saxony can provide even stronger support for companies such as aconnic in an increasingly competitive international market.
At its principal manufacturing facility in Hartmannsdorf, aconnic produces, among other products, encrypted communications equipment for broadband and internet networks. Of the company’s approximately 250 employees, 155 are based at the Saxony site.
“With aconnic’s networking equipment, customers can protect themselves against two major risks: on the one hand, the theft of sensitive data by hackers; on the other, attacks on their networks that could lead to a complete system failure,” Freie Presse reported. “The company also promises protection against future threats posed by quantum computing.”
“The greater risk is not eavesdropping,” CEO Werner Neubauer said, “but the collapse of critical networks. If all railway crossings were suddenly to show green at the same time, or if every production line in the automotive industry were to fail simultaneously, Europe would face a major societal challenge.” Demand therefore comes primarily from operators of critical infrastructure. aconnic’s networking systems are deployed at the endpoints of fiber-optic networks, for example to securely connect major banking data centers.
